Hello and welcome to my Poetry website for children… and for all those of you who are young at heart.
Poetry is writing’s answer to the music and pictures all around us. It’s writing’s answer to all that we see, hear, touch, taste and smell. Poetry is about moods and feelings, fun and happiness and it’s about playing with language – choosing and manipulating words to create meaning which can be powerful, informative, thought-provoking, heart-warming, chilling or just plain and simple fun.

Albert Einstein said, ‘Imagination is more important than knowledge.’ I believe poetry is the written word’s version of imagination. To write poetry is to be free to explore just how wonderfully words can be put together to create images and music. To write poetry is to paint pictures and sounds you can only dream of touching, and to have a lot of fun at the same time.
